Robert, you mean intially ? Bright shaded area i mean.... Mine grows happily in full morning sun + patches of a`noon sun........ doesn`t have problem with heat / sunlite as long as the medium is wet...

jimmy: try putting some salted fish in the grass / garden + put your VFTs next to it... see if it attract flies for them to catch. it may take a while.

last time i used to catch flies to feed...

Mine have all dwindled down to one young VFT ( abt 4cm across ) & several tiny ones ( less than 0.5 cm ) ..... used to have HUGE giant ones heheh. Care during...

It`s lovely... if / when i go, i will bring a pair of scissors to trim off all the dead pitchers & clean up the plants for him. LOL. + a small shovel to dig up & throw away all the weeds growing...

An update : my d.scorpiodes collapsed after being exposed to near a`noon sun. The angle of the sun shifted & i was too busy to notice so the poor things got burnt. I was unable to save them.

I have to fish out my ruler to see how long 8cm is. Wow! Yeah i know abt the larger ceph clones but I`ve never tried coz even the normal ones don`t exactly flourish here. :o)

Hi Dadetave,
Your cephs are amazing. 6.5cm is huge, the biggest ones we got from our local nursery was only about 3cm at most.

so this is a greenhouse with a chiller & it`s own internal...

in M`sia, it`s quite difficult to get sunlight on the plants without the heat.

unless we have angled sunlight streaming into an aircon area for a few hours daily which is difficult to find....

strath76 : not many of us have prolifera or schizandra. i have d. adelae but like you said, it`s a picky sundew in our hot tropical weather. i have a few pots of it growing in 2 parts of my garden. ...

Ok yr d. Intermedia is indeed what you say it is.

Your other sundew is most prob a d. Nidiformis...

Go get some Filiformis or Binata or burmanii which totally look diff then there won't be...

Just to share, my sundews are stacked on a multi tier rack ( tier 2 & 3 from a 4-tier rack ) & protected from direct...

They look like d.intermedia to me. But yes, as strath76 pointed out, plants under stress look a lil` diff from a happy one.

IMHO, for our weather, sundews can make do with just half day sun....

we have sundews growing in 1 part of malaysia as well, found on a cool hill far away from everyone but it`s a well-guarded...

were there any sundews which were in good condition ? ie green or red, healthy leaves etc.

from your pics, the conditions don`t look very suitable for a sundew, is there like a stream or river...

We grow our VFTs mainly in LFS & this doesn`t splash easy even in our heaviest rainfalls. I know of a VFT collector who just places newly separated tiny VFTs into LFS & exposes them to rains etc...
